English
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we will finish Unit 1 and review for the test on Thursday.
Spiral 1 will be distributed on Monday and is due by Friday. Please check your child's work
before they turn it in to me. We will also begin work in our Wordly Wise workbook.

If your child needs extra help in English, I am available Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday
morning this week. I can be in my room from 8:00-8:25 a.m. Please email me if your child
plans to come so that I make sure to be in my room. Thanks.

be due at the end of class on Tuesday. Wednesday we will review for the vocabulary test that

Sweatshirt Sale

Sweatshirt order forms go home today. The sale is next Wednesday and Thursday. Please DO NOT send money with your child until those days. Representatives from School Time will be on campus to take orders. Feel free to stop by school one of those mornings if you want to place the order instead of sending the money with your child.

English Updates

So far we have completed the first four sections in Unit 1. The Unit 1 test will be on Thursday, September 2. The test format, which tells you and your child what they will be expected to do on the test, is in yellow English folders today.

Worksheets- After the class has worked and checked the information in the text, a WB page is assigned. Students may always come to me for help if they still aren't "getting it". These WB pages are turned in for a grade. Once they are graded, I hand them back and ask students to place them in their yellow English folder. They should remain in this folder so you always know where to look when studying. Please ask your child to show you their graded pages.

When studying for the test, please focus on simple subjects and simple predicates.

*** PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SIMPLE SUBJECTS WB PAGE WAS DONE AS A CLASS. MOST STUDENTS SCORED A 9/9 BECAUSE IT WAS DONE TOGETHER. PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND HOW TO DO THE WORK ON THEIR OWN.***

Science clarification

I want to take a moment to make my Science assignment clear. When notecards are assigned as homework, they should come to school BLANK. The making of notecards is an in class assignment and all students should be working on that assignment in class. If a student comes to school with the information already on the cards, they will be made to re-do the work in class.
Please do not encourage/allow your child to work ahead of the class. This is not acceptable.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school and to the 5th grade. This year has gotten off to a great start. Please check my website often as this is where I post all information about English, Science, and anything going on in 5th grade. My goal is to update on Monday afternoons for the week. I am usually pretty good about this, but please forgive me if I fall behind. I hope to see all parents at Open House on the 26th!
